The Virgo in me has taken a break this December, and it has been a revelation. No family Christmas cards went out this year, in fact, we didn’t even take a family photo. We didn’t put a Christmas tree up because we plan to decorate one at my mom’s house in LA which gave me a sigh of relief. As much as I love decorating the tree, it was awesome to not have to sort through old ornaments and untangle twinkly lights. We did decorate the mantle, watch Home Alone, and do some holiday crafting at home, all at a pace that felt relaxed. I didn’t spend money like crazy on stuff that I won’t need or want 6 months from now and I’ve been slowly minimizing the items floating around this house that have no purpose. I’m going to go ahead and deem December 2023 the minimalists holiday season.
