I just got home and settled after a long overdue visit to my hometown. My week spent in LA brought up all the feels. I visited the places that were nostalgic for me, my favorite restaurants and the people that I love. Cali was showing off with a sweet, breezy, 75 degree weather week. Gorgeous produce at all of the glorious farmers markets enticed me all while that Pacific Ocean breeze sang to my soul. I was clearly reminded of why LA is so special.
When you move to a new city, you come face to face with yourself in a new way. Some serious growing up and growing out happens, like branches on a tree. Building a new root system on new ground. I did realize something this week however. Even though I’ve planted new roots in a new city, that root system travels far and wide and the love I share with all of the people in my hometown remains strong and steady.
I’ll be back to LA soon, it will forever hold a special place in my heart, even with its grueling traffic, outrageous prices and impossible standards. But I’m just so happy in my place in the world, with my family in ATL, moving to a new rhythm.
No cooking happened last week, so no recipe today (this Sunday is a good one !!), but a lot of eating DID happen and I’d love to share with you my LA guide to everything you want to eat. If you or someone you might know are heading to the City of Angels soon, let me show you the way to all things edible.
What are your favorite places to eat in your city? Comment and let’s get a thread going and I’ll share the greatest hits list for all to enjoy. Share your city and some of your faves and let’s spread the love and discover all the tasty things together!
